Granada's Extreme Vineyards: Closer to the Clouds
Let's head further east, to the foothills of the snow-capped Sierra Nevada peaks. The mountainous region near Granada (especially the rugged and beautiful Alpujarra and the slopes of Contraviesa) hides some of the highest vineyards in Europe—some vines climb to altitudes of 1,300–1,400 meters!
Here, winemaking turns into pure heroism on slate soils. Constant stress for the vines, mineral-poor lands, and the purest mountain air give birth to wines with incredible concentration.
What are we looking for here?
We will reach the pioneers of natural winemaking in Spain—the Barranco Oscuro bodega—or visit Bodega Fabio Coullet with its extremely steep slopes.
The local wines are surprising: they combine southern density with astonishing mountain freshness, enveloping tannins, and subtle notes of slate smoke. This is a wine with character that is impossible to forget.
Nota: Aproveché para corregir el nombre de la bodega (bodegafabiocoulle por su nombre real Bodega Fabio Coullet) para que quede perfecto. ¡Cualquier otra cosa que necesites, me avisas!
